Description of Competitive Groups
Below you will find a brief decription of each group within our competitive program. At Coronado Swim Team Elite, we believe in a technique-based progression that focuses on creating great technical habits at the youngest age possible. Once they are techically proficient in all four strokes, your swimmer will graduate into the more advanced training groups in our program.
Bronze
The Bronze level group is desinged for swimmers 6-10 years old who have learned the fundamental stroke techniques of Freestyle and Backstroke. During their time in Bronze, your swimmer will continue to refine their technique in Freestyle and Backstroke, while beginning to learn technical basics of Breaststroke and Butterfly. Once a Bronze swimmer can perform a legal lap of all four strokes, they will be ready to progress into our Silver level group.
Practices per week: 2-3
Attendance Requirements: 50% Minimum Attendance
Required Gear: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel
Silver
The Silver group is desinged for swimmers 8-11 years old who have learned and can perform all four strokes legally. During their time in Silver, your swimmer will continue to refine their technique in all four strokes, and begin to perform basic training sets. Once a Silver swimmer can meet the training, attendance and time standard requirements for our next level, they may be invited into our Gold group.
Practices per week: 4
Attendance Requirements: 60% Minimum Attendance
Required Gear: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel
Gold
The Gold group is desinged for swimmers 10-13 years old who can perform all 4 strokes legally, and can meet the training and time standard requirements of the group. During their time in Gold, your swimmer will continue to refine their technique in all four strokes, and begin learning and practicing more advanced training principles. Once a Gold swimmer can meet the training, attendance and time standard requirements for our next level, they may be invited into our Platinum group.
Practices per week: 5 (+2 Dryland Sessions)
Attendance Requirements: 70% Minimum Attendance
Required Gear: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Dryland Clothes/Shoes
Platinum
The highest level of our Age Group program, the Platinum group is desinged for swimmers 12-14 years old who have displayed techical/training excellence for their age and are ready for more advanced training concepts. During their time in Platinum, your swimmer will continue to refine their technique in all four strokes, and begin to be consistently challeged with advanced training concepts. Once a Platinum swimmer can meet the training, attendance and time standard requirements for our next level, they may be invited into our Senior group.
Practices per week: 6 (+3 Dryland Sessions)
Attendance Requirements: 80% Minimum Attendance

Senior
Our Senior group is designed for swimmers 14-18 year old who have graduated from our Gold and Platinum level groups and are ready to apply advanced performance-based training to the techniques in all four strokes learned during their time in our Age Group program. Senior level swimmers will be challenged with a robust training schedule, including morning workouts, as well as frequent competitions, including some requiring travel. Once a Senior swimmer can meet the training, attendance and time standard requirements for our next level, they may be invited into our Senior Elite group.
Practices per week: 9 (+3 Dryland Sessions)
Attendance Requirements: 70% Minimum Attendance

Senior Elite
Senior Elite is our premier performance-based training group reserved for our Senior athletes that have met the advanced training, technique, attendance and performance requirements of the Senior Elite group. In addition to a more advanced training scheudule (including morning workouts), Senior Elite swimmers will be asked to compete and attend frequent travel competitions, maintain an above average High School GPA, and have a goal to swim collegiately.
Practices per week: 9 (+3 Dryland Sessions)
Attendance Requirements: 80% Minimum Attendance
